TED是為Technology, Entertainment, Design (科技、娛樂、設計)的縮寫。這個含跨三個領域的年度論壇，早就從1984年開始舉辦，但是卻一直是到這幾年，當出版科技雜誌起家的英國人Chris Anderson(這跟跟提出長尾理論的Chris Anderson不是同一個人)把論壇接手以後，才慢慢的廣為人知。最大的關鍵在於，你要去參加TED的票，一年是要6000元美金。我必須很誠實的說，我如果頭殼壞掉才會花那麼多錢去一個conference？所以當Chris Anderson將這些各領域傑出人士的演講數位化，且免費放在網路上讓人觀賞以後，大大打開了TED的知名度。我相信與會的人士應該對此也會支持，畢竟分享經驗才是進步的原動力。

在這麼多場演講裡面，你除了可以看到失聰音樂家Evelyn Glennie自述當初是如何據理力爭申請進入音樂學院，她教你怎麼樣用身體聽音樂。也可以聽到我最喜歡的Slam Poetry，詩不應該只是用朗誦的，而是表演。甚至有喜劇演員把所有與會人士在TED演講的內容放進他脫口秀的材料裡，調侃這些所謂的成功人士。

說了那麼多，最終的也就是那「inspire」一個字。也許在我們長輩的年代，他們可能要跑大老遠與聽一場演講，而也許有那麼小小的一個機率，那場演講可以改變一個人的人生。世界是平的，不管你在亞洲或是在北美，在電腦前面，你一樣的在能夠聽到各種頂尖人物的演講。世界也不是平的，因為很明顯的，你得先會英文才能聽得懂這些東西。但是，那不應該是停止我們尋找inspiration的藉口。我所謂的inspiration，並不是所謂天下雜誌的看見趨勢，十年佈局，或是搶得先機，那些對我來說是廢話，我不需要別人來告訴我，他們有多成功。我不是那種一開始就有很大夢想的人，我連自己兩年後會做甚麼事情都不知道，但是看到這些人對於專業的熱情的專注，讓我看見更廣闊的世界，喚起一些自己以為已經不見的東西。

之前朋友傳來魚夫的網址。裡面有一個單元我很喜歡，叫做「魚夫訪談創意人的故事」，他很用心錄影剪輯過。blog的介面是雜亂的一點，但是內容很好，大家不妨看看。

有朋友之前在問英文的podcast有甚麼好聽的節目，我會推薦TED，因為裡面有各式各樣的內容和領域，你可以挑你喜歡得來聽，或著想要知道其他你不熟悉的世界有甚麼好玩的事情正在發生。還有好聽的表演藝術可以看。他們很細心，提供了video podcast和audio podcast，我現在一時找不到url，不過你去iTunes上的podcast區搜尋就可以找到。

Eddi Reader這位蘇格蘭歌手在TED上面表演了一首歌，我很喜歡，歌名叫做「What You Do With What You’ve Got」。歌詞在此。

喔，對了，後來我真的碰上了Jeff Han, 不過那是另外一個故事了。

electroencephalograph (EEG), 中文叫做「腦波儀」或是「腦電描記器」。(腦波儀耶，突然想到倪匡的小說)

洪蘭在2005年11月的科學人寫了一篇相關的文章。

老弟的強者學長自己用家用電器克難地做了一個EEG出來，如果很用力的想，電腦可以拼出字來，蠻好玩的。有錄影有真相。

也許有一天我可以把便宜自製EEG和某個HCI project連起來也不一定。
